Helper Applications - Specify Editors and Document Browser Preferences


From the COMPAS Enterprise Main Window, click:

Edit -> Preferences ->Helper Apps

File Format

Use the Helper Application preference specification to override the system defaults for each file format type, and to establish your own custom configuration. The document format type is displayed in the column titled "Format".

File Conversion

You can specify one of three conversion formats for the document file type:

Application Path

Based on the conversion format, you can specify editor or browser application software of your choice:

Summary

The applications initially are based on the given Format Type of the document to browse or edit and the system default specifications.

As you change from one conversion format to another or from one browser option to another, you will see the selected program that will be launched with the converted document in the column called "Application Path". If you want to, you can override that browser by entering a new row in the "Helper Applications" chart.

This window is a "no questions asked - we do what you say" kind of operation. That means you could select a combination of conversions and override programs to launch that yield strange results. If you don't like what you get, just try something different.
